Green and Pink Matalan bedroom for under £500

Matalan is one of my favourite, go to shops for all things interior. It has some stylish affordable pieces to match all different styles of homes.

So lets get started, why not try this look below. This whole design is sourced from Matalan and will completely change up the look of your bedroom in just a few steps.

The look can all be sourced for under £500!!!

Step 1 – Pick your wall colour.

The paint colour shown here is, Dulux ‘Putting Green’.

I chose this beautiful serene colour to add a touch of calm to this inviting bedroom. Its up to you whether you choose to paint this colour to the one wall behind the bed making it a feature or if you would like to go all out and paint to all walls.

If you wanted to keep the room more neutral, other paint colours I would suggest that would go with this look would be; white, muted greys and taupes.

Step 2 – Lamps!!!

And hello to these show stoppers. These gold flamingo lamps with blush shades were a must have for this look. They are 55cm high, so will give a substantial balance of height to your bedsides and add a touch of glam to the room.

Step 3 – Bedsides.

If your current side tables need updating, then these stunning, affordable Nina side tables are the perfect solution. They have a round gold metal base and chic marble top, the perfect pairing to the flamingo lamps. Plus they are only £70 each, bargain!!

Step 4 – Bedding

I’m a strong believer in less is more. Sure there are plenty of pattern bed sets which would also go in this room. But this white seersucker duvet cover gives a timeless feel, and allows the punchy green paint and funky table lamps to stand out without being too much. Its adds a fresh look starting from £35 for the set.

Step 5 – Cushions and throw

Add textures, life and colour to your bedroom with different mismatched cushions and complementary throws. Here's the selection I suggest below.

For this design I chose a sage green velvet cushion £6, a fluffy white textured cushion £12, a pink and grey pattern leaf cushion £12 and a stylish pink velvet throw £30. As you can see these all have humble price tags, but they are classy and match the scheme perfectly.

My Tip – Replace the cushions inner with feather inners. You can get these from anywhere, I get mine from IKEA, they are £5.50. They hold shape much better and give a plush, finished look.

Step 7 - Ceiling Light Fitting

This light definitely hits the wow factor. Your eye will instantly be drawn to this feature light when standing at the doorway. Be sure to have it central over the bed, as it has a drop of 64cm high.

This comes in at a reasonable £100.

This also goes back to what I was saying about plain white bedding and not wanting to over do it. This feature light fitting, stand out lamps and a punchy green paint all speak for themselves, so adding too many jazzy pieces could be too much.

Step 8 – Artwork

Add that final touch to your new room with these oak hanging frames just £8 each.

For that price, I suggest to get 3 and arrange them in a line over the bed. You can fill these with whatever you like to go with your new room.

So there you have it. A fresh new up to date room with brand new modern features, affordable price tags from a one stop shop solution.
